Fees & FAQ

Everything you might want to know before reaching out: what therapy costs, how online sessions work, and what it means that I'm a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. Don't see your question here? Ask me during your free 15-minute consultation.

How much does therapy cost?
Individual sessions are $100–$125 for 50 minutes. That's a full hour (well, 50 minutes) that's entirely about you: no multitasking, no taking care of anyone else. Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video, so we can see whether we're a good fit before you commit to anything.

Do you take insurance?
New Leaf Counseling is private pay, which means I don't bill insurance directly. Paying privately also means no diagnosis has to be sent to an insurance company in order for you to start therapy, and your plan doesn't get a say in how many sessions you have or what we focus on.

Can I get reimbursed with a superbill?
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill: an itemized receipt you submit to your insurance company to ask for partial reimbursement. A superbill includes a diagnosis code, which your insurance company will see. Reimbursement is never guaranteed, and some plans don't reimburse services provided by a registered intern, so it's worth calling your plan before counting on it. Questions to ask: Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? Do you reimburse outpatient psychotherapy (CPT code 90834) provided by a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern under supervision? How much of my deductible have I met?

Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Therapy is often an eligible expense for health savings and flexible spending accounts. Check with your plan administrator to confirm what your plan covers.

Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes. I keep a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who need them, because cost shouldn't be the reason you don't get support. Just ask during your free consultation (no awkward explaining required). I'm also listed on Open Path Collective, a nonprofit that connects clients with reduced-rate therapy.

How does online therapy work?
Sessions happen over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. You'll get a link to join from your computer, tablet, or phone. All you need is a private space where you can talk freely, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Plenty of clients use headphones, a parked car, or a closet. Wherever you feel comfortable works.

Do I need to be in Florida?
Yes. You need to be physically located in Florida at the time of each session. If you'll be traveling out of state, let me know ahead of time so we can plan around it.

What is an RMHCI?
RMHCI stands for Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. In Florida, that means I've completed a master's degree in counseling and am registered with the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling to provide therapy under clinical supervision while I complete the hours and exam required for full licensure (LMHC). My registration number is IMH29407, and I'm supervised by Brittany Doran, LMHC (MH25165), and Alicia McCray, LMFT (MT4211).

What does supervision mean for me?
Our sessions are just you and me. Supervision means I regularly consult with experienced licensed clinicians about my work, which gives your care an extra layer of support. My supervisors are bound by the same confidentiality rules I am.

Who do you work with?
I work with folks 13+ located in Florida, especially women, who are navigating trauma and PTSD, anxiety, grief and life transitions, and religious trauma, including spiritual abuse, purity culture, faith deconstruction, and the lasting effects of high-control religion.

Do I have to have left my religion?
Not at all. You don't have to know what you believe, and I won't tell you where you should land. Some clients rebuild their faith, some step away, and some are still figuring it out. All of that is welcome here.

Can I get a Good Faith Estimate?
Yes. Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care. You can request one anytime, and you can read more on the Good Faith Estimate page.

Is this a crisis service?
No. Messages and consultation requests are not monitored around the clock. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
