Grief Counseling & Life Transitions

Nobody hands you a manual for this part.

Maybe you lost someone you love, and the world kept moving like nothing happened. Maybe you’re grieving a pregnancy that ended too soon, a relationship that’s changed, or a future you thought you’d have.

Or maybe life looks nothing like you expected, and you’re trying to make sense of everything that’s changed.

Grief can bring up all kinds of emotions. Sadness, anger, guilt, relief, confusion, or sometimes nothing at all. And those feelings don’t always show up when you’d expect them to.

Therapy can be a place to make room for those complicated feelings, talk through what’s changed, and explore what you need as you navigate life after loss.

I offer virtual grief counseling for folks 13+ throughout Florida.

Grief Can Look Different for Everyone

Grief can show up in all kinds of ways. Sometimes the feelings are overwhelming, and other times you might feel surprisingly okay, disconnected, or unsure of what you’re even feeling.

You might notice

  • Waves of sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, or relief

  • Difficulty concentrating, remembering things, or making decisions

  • Feeling disconnected from people who don’t seem to understand

  • Questioning who you are now or what comes next

  • Exhaustion, changes in sleep, or changes in appetite

  • Feeling pressure from yourself or other people to move on

  • Missing parts of a relationship or experience that you also know needed to change

Grief doesn’t always follow a predictable timeline, and two people can experience the same kind of loss very differently. Your experiences, relationships, and circumstances all play a part in how you respond.

How Can Grief Counseling Help?

Therapy can be a space to explore the emotions that come with grief, make sense of what you’ve experienced, and understand how loss may be affecting different parts of your life.

Maybe you’re navigating feelings of guilt or regret, struggling with changes in your relationships, or trying to figure out who you are now that life looks different. Or maybe you just need somewhere to talk openly about what happened without worrying about how other people might respond.

Some things you might want to explore in therapy include

  • Making sense of your emotions and reactions to loss

  • Processing memories, difficult experiences, or unresolved feelings

  • Exploring guilt, anger, regret, and other complicated emotions

  • Navigating changes in relationships, family dynamics, or support systems

  • Understanding how grief may be affecting your thoughts, behaviors, and daily life

  • Exploring ways to honor meaningful relationships, memories, or experiences

  • Finding ways to manage uncertainty and adjust to changes in your life

What Therapy with Me Might Look Like

My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should be a place where you can talk about difficult experiences without worrying about saying the right thing or feeling pressured to have everything figured out.

Grief can bring up a lot of complicated emotions, and sometimes those emotions don’t make much sense. I’m interested in getting curious about your experiences, understanding what this loss or change has meant for you, and exploring what support might look like moving forward.

Depending on your experiences and goals, I may draw from approaches like CBT, DBT, somatic techniques, and other tools that fit your needs.

Some things we might explore together include

  • Your experiences with loss or change and what they’ve meant to you

  • Emotions that feel confusing, uncomfortable, or difficult to express

  • Changes in relationships, family dynamics, or sources of support

  • Memories, meaningful connections, and ways of honoring what mattered

  • Identity changes, uncertainty, and what you want moving forward

  • Practical ways to support yourself when grief feels overwhelming

I value real conversations, thoughtful questions, and a little humor when it feels appropriate. I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all, and I want you to have a say in what our work looks like.

My goal is to listen, get curious, and help you make sense of things at your own pace.

If your grief is connected to leaving a religious community, changing your beliefs, or losing relationships because of those changes, I also offer therapy for religious trauma and spiritual abuse.
